Michael Medina, MD is a board-certified otolaryngologist and head and neck surgeon serving Dallas, Plano, Richardson, and the greater DFW area. He trained at Columbia University, Temple University (Chief Resident), the University of Miami, and Cleveland Clinic Florida, where he built advanced surgical programs and co-directed the institution's busiest cancer tumor board for more than a decade.

Dr. Medina is among the region's most experienced surgeons in the surgical treatment of obstructive sleep apnea. He manages the complete Inspire (hypoglossal nerve stimulation) pathway — candidacy evaluation, implantation, and device programming — along with minimally invasive and reconstructive sleep surgery. Patients whose sleep apnea involves nasal obstruction are evaluated in coordination with Dr. Albritton's nasal airway program, so both components of the airway are addressed under one roof.

Surgery is typically considered for nodules with suspicious or cancerous biopsy results, goiters causing swallowing, breathing, or pressure symptoms, overactive thyroid not controlled by medication, and recurrent disease after prior surgery.

Will I have a visible scar?

Thyroid and parathyroid surgery is performed through a small incision placed in a natural skin crease of the lower neck, which typically heals to a thin line that fades over time.
