Mark T. Spears, MS/CCC-A, FAAA

Director of Audiology

 

With over 35 years of experience as a clinical Audiologist, Mark T. Spears, MS/CCC-A has worked to to help people with hearing loss, tinnitus and other ear issues. Over the years, he has provided hearing healthcare services to all age ranges, from newborn to geriatric populations in a variety of clinical settings.

Along with his clinical expertise, he himself has experienced hearing problems from birth, and has had extensive personal experience with hearing aids since the 1970’s.  This has helped him to better understand and fit current hearing aid technology.  He strives to deliver the best solution for each patient's hearing needs, and patient satisfaction is his top priority.

Mr. Spears earned his Bachelor’s degree in Speech from the University of Texas at Austin, and his Master’s degree in Communication Disorders from the UT-Dallas/ Callier Center.

He has served as a director of hearing services at a United Way agency for the hearing impaired, and has worked with cochlear implant patients. At Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, he worked closely with residents in training and the Otolaryngology staff  to provide audiological and neurological assessments of hearing in newborns, infants, and children. Mark has provided diagnostic vestibular testing for dizzy patients over the span of his career, and worked closely with neuro-otologists, otologists, and otolaryngologists for most of those years, with specialties ranging from treatment of acoustic neuromas, reconstruction of ears for atresia patients, sinus issues, and allergy problems.

Outside of patient care, hobbies include collecting and playing several musical instruments, cooking, suizen (meditation with shakuhachi), travel, collecting robots, etc. He has resided in the Dallas area for the vast majority of his life, along with his spouse, Jo Anne.
